Langston
Hughes
By: James
Mueggenberg
During the 20s, a new movement called the Harlem Renaissance.
Out of this movement, a revolutionary poet named Langston Hughes
emerged. His work would be admired
almost a century later. Hughes was
born on February 1, 1902 in Joplin, Missouri. He first became known when he published
his first poem called “The Crisis”.
He went on to publish more poems later in life that made him quite famous
among the literary world. However,
after his death, speculations began to arise that Langston Hughes was a
homosexual. There is supposedly
evidence of this in some of Hughes’ unpublished works which he had written for a
male lover.
